The Nuggets Worth A Billion That My First Coach Taught Me

What if the key to rapid transformation isn't endlessly rehashing your problems, but instead identifying and releasing the stories keeping you stuck? Drawing from a decade of coaching experience with top performers, I share the game-changing insight my first coach taught me that revolutionized my approach to personal growth.

Most of us walk around with massive blind spots—subconscious thought patterns that keep us trapped in disempowering loops. You might be unconsciously telling yourself things you'd never say to your worst enemy! These hidden narratives create the frequency that determines what you attract into your life. When you're not where you want to be—whether in relationships, finances, or career fulfillment—it's almost always because of a limiting story operating behind the scenes.

The real magic happens when we stop viewing ourselves as broken people who need fixing and instead recognize ourselves as divine creators temporarily weighed down by stories that no longer serve us. I experienced this firsthand with anxiety. Rather than identifying as "someone with anxiety," I began seeing anxiety as just something that occasionally visited but wasn't my identity. This simple shift accelerated my healing dramatically.

Want to discover your own blind spots? Start tracking your thoughts for a week. Write down what you're telling yourself whenever you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or frustrated. The patterns will reveal themselves, showing you exactly where transformation needs to happen. When you change what's happening inside, your external reality shifts rapidly—not because you're doing more, but because you're being different.

Ready to break free from limiting narratives and step into your magnetic power? Email info@lisajeffs.com to discuss private coaching or the Magnetic Leadership Accelerator program. True transformation awaits when you're ready to release what no longer serves you and embrace who you truly are.

Speaker 1:

This is where we don't just talk about confidence and success. We embody it. After a decade of coaching top performers, I know one thing for sure Success isn't about doing more. It's about becoming the version of you who naturally attracts what you desire, attracts what you desire. Let's dive into this episode.

Speaker 1:

Leaders, I wanted to share with you one thing that I've learned from my first coach, which changed my life, first of all, drastically rapidly. I mirror a lot of that in my work currently because it is so foundational. It's also so highly effective of helping a person to make shifts quickly and when I get on a call with someone I take calls every week from people that need help and I get in a call with someone and they're telling me that they've been working with someone a practitioner or another coach or another therapist or something like that and they've been working with them for years. We should not be working on the same issue for years and years, and years. This is when we are looping around a story. Now, that's not to say that healing doesn't go in layers, because you can absolutely be healing something one year and you think you're done, and then three, five, 10 years later, something pops up again, but it's a new layer of that. You're not going around the same story over and over again. But when I hear this, I know that that person is hungry and ready for true transformation. Because, let me tell you, when you are doing the right things, when you are doing what's actually effective and not surface level and not just scratching the surface of something, you feel the shift and you feel it fast. There are clients that I'm currently working with that have shifted radically after the first session I have worked with individuals. After the first 10 minutes they are telling me that they've gotten more out of our conversation than years working with the other individuals, that they've gotten more out of our conversation than years working with the other individuals that they've been working with and I don't say this to make it sound like I'm some kind of special snowflake, even though I do think I'm special. I think everybody is special. I'm saying it because I focus in on what is effective, what goes to the core, so we can start moving forward, even when we are doing healing work. The purpose of doing it is to shift, is to shift a pattern, to go over the same thing over and over and over again.

Speaker 1:

We get addicted to this. Human beings get addicted to their stories and there's a part of us that indulges in the story, especially if we feel like a victim of something. I often talk about shadow aspects in my work and one of the shadow aspects is the victim. Now, the victim loves to indulge in victim stories. It feeds off of this.

Speaker 1:

This is a problem. This keeps people trapped in loops and stories and disempowered. If you are not where you want to be, if there is something that you would like in your life and it's not there, then chances are you're in a state of disempowerment. Somewhere. There's some story operating in the background that is disempowering you. Part of the work is uncovering and bringing all that stuff to the surface so we can see the truth of it so we can see it for what it is An illusion. That is not the truth of who you are. You are not your stories, you are not your trauma. You are not a label. This is one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of labels. I don't like them. They are restricting, limiting, they put you in a box.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes a label can be helpful, especially if we've been challenged with something for a while and then we can give it a label. So for me, when I was younger, I had very severe social anxiety, anxiety in general, and when I got older, giving it a name, anxiety was helpful. Oh, that makes sense. It's not actually who I am at my core. That's something that I'm working through at the moment but it got to a point where it became a hindrance. A hindrance Saying that I have anxiety got to where I was creating the story. I was reliving that every day as someone who had anxiety, part of my journey of healing the anxiety and it's not to say that I never feel anxiety now, but it is nowhere nowhere even in the same planet as what it used to be. It used to be debilitating. There were moments where I would black out. Panic attacks like it was very debilitating, as where it is now. It's something that sometimes will come on. It's like, oh no, there's that old part just popping its head to kind of say hi, and then it just dissipates. Part of my healing was releasing that label, no longer identifying with that label. I'm not somebody with anxiety. Anxiety is simply something that comes on once in a while and then it dissipates. I am, I am, I am, I am. You are more than any of the stories. You are more than the labels. You are more than your thoughts.

Speaker 1:

So, going into what my first coach taught me and the work that we did at the beginning was really paying attention to what I was telling myself daily, the thoughts that were spinning around my mind. This was critical. I had no idea the words that I was saying to myself. We have blind spots, we have huge blind spots. I was a fairly positive person, to be honest. When I started tracking my thoughts, however, I started noticing some really significant issues there, some really significant loops that I had acquired somewhere along the way that were extremely limiting, very limiting Things I would never even say to my worst enemy. I was saying to myself repeatedly daily we have massive blind spots.

Speaker 1:

When I am working with someone, or when I'm working with a client, I can see one of my gifts is just immediately zeroing in with precision what that blind spot is, what the issue is, immediately zeroing in with precision what that blind spot is, what the issue is. And nobody goes around consciously, you know, keeping themselves in a loop. Now, actually, I shouldn't say that, because sometimes we do consciously do that. However, there's other pieces going on here, but it's very easy to be blinded by your own patterns, and when I started working with my my coach and she had me tracking my thoughts which we later dug into and really got to the core of what beliefs were there I was in shock. I was actually in shock. I couldn't believe what I was saying to myself, and it was such a pivotal moment where I immediately knew exactly what I needed to change, exactly the root of so many of my challenges. A lot of people don't know what are my blind spots. Well, start tracking your thoughts. Start, literally. Take a paper and a pen, take a notepad, carry it around with you for a week and start to track. You will notice the patterns. You will see what you're saying to yourself Anytime you don't feel great, anytime you don't feel you feel overwhelmed, take out that paper, take out your pen, write down what you are saying.

Speaker 1:

If you are in a relationship that is not fulfilling, that is not making you happy, there's a story about that that you're telling yourself every single day. If you are not making the money you want to make, what story are you telling yourself around money, around opportunities, around the world we live in, how the world works, what's the mindset you're operating in? If you are in a job that's not making you happy, what is the story you're telling yourself? What is the story you're telling yourself? A lot of times we're telling ourselves these stories that keep us trapped in a reality that is not fulfilling us. These are simply stories.

Speaker 1:

This is the foundational part of the work, because we can't shift your frequency if we don't actually understand what is creating the frequency we are in currently Our thoughts. Our thoughts are having a massive impact on our frequency. To change our reality is not just about doing a bunch of stuff. It's about shifting our frequency. This is an energetic world. This is a magnetic world. You want something different. You have to change what's inside first. You cannot escape this. You cannot escape this from doing more. It's not gonna work. You're gonna keep bumping your head against the wall. Why isn't this working? Why isn't this working? Why is nothing changing? Because you're not changing. Because you are not changing and I say that with love, not to point fingers, because I've been stuck in many different patterns and been frustrated, like I'm on a train and the train is just going around in circles and I'm like what is going on here?

Speaker 1:

Why can't I break free from this? Why can't I move forward? I feel like I'm doing all the right things, because it's not about doing the right things. It's about shifting the internal narrative. First and again, this is why we have blind spots. We have blind spots. We think we're doing it and we're just going around in circles, or we're not even moving. We're just in quicksand and we're just stuck there. It's the economy, it's the dating realm, it's the opportunities out there, it's what's happening outside of ourselves. No, it's what's happening inside of ourselves, and when we change what's happening inside, things shift rapidly in our external world. So a big part of what that my first coach taught me about this was that it's also not about fixing anything right. We're not, we're not broken, nobody's broken. I don't care what life you've experienced, what has happened to you, what you think your internal world is.

Speaker 1:

I work with a lot of people who think that they are somehow just quote unquote more messed up than anyone else, and if that is furthest from the truth, you know, one of the most amazing things that happened to me in my journey as a coach was starting to work with all different types of people and realizing that everybody has pretty much a handful of issues and we're all the same. We don't all have the same challenges, but it's just a handful of different things and we're just all repeating the same challenge. It's a human thing. It's not a personal problem. It's the challenges of humanity. And it helped me realize my own problems, or my own challenges or what I was viewing as problems and challenges, weren't about fixing anything.

Speaker 1:

It was an opportunity to assess what was happening with curiosity and to make the decision that, yes, I want to change things because I have a growth mindset, not a fixed mindset, and I believe that we can grow and we can change and we can expand, and a big part of our work that we are doing on this planet right now is letting go and releasing we're not fixing. We're releasing all these stories, all these beliefs that aren't serving us, all the heaviness, all the burdens, so we can step into this expanded state and start claiming our right as a creator, start claiming our right as divine creators in this existence and start having fun with our creation. Start having fun with life, start falling in love with life and your ability to create and yourself as a human being. Holy shit, it's such a different reality when you can do that. It's such a magnifying reality when you can let go of the BS, the stories, the survival of programming and step into a whole new way of being. Let me tell you your life, your mindset, your energy, your frequency is gonna shift and you're gonna start attracting all these incredible people and opportunities and things into your life that make it feel so on fire and so magnetic that you wake up every day freaking excited to be alive. This is not Pollyanna, positivity or whatever that even means. This is real life that is available to you.

Speaker 1:

When I wake up in the morning, I am freaking excited about my day. Now I'm going to caveat that and say there are some days where I don't wake up like that. I'm not trying to put a fake or phony Instagram filter on reality. Not every day is going to feel like that. Some days I feel a little bit tired. Some days days I feel a little bit tired. Some days I feel a little bit overwhelmed. There's a lot going on, but for the most part, I'm waking up pretty damn excited for my day, because I am doing the work that I love, I am surrounded by people that I love, I am aligned with my values, I am aligned with my purpose and I feel supported. I feel supported in my life.

Speaker 1:

I am no longer under the mentality that it's all on me, and that was a huge shift for me. That was a huge shift in my world was feeling like I was finally supported, that people saw me for who I am, beyond the stories and limitations that I saw of myself. Not only my first coach, but all my coaches and mentors. This has been a gift that they have given me, that they have seen the truth of who I am and reflected that back to me, mirrored that back to me, so I could see my brilliance, because there was a point in my life where I couldn't see it at all. I literally couldn't see it. I was not able to see my gifts, my abilities. I wasn't connected to that part of me and there was actually one coach that I had a little bit later on in my journey and she truly connected me to my higher self, which was a big, a huge upgrade in my life where I could finally feel that energy and that power.

Speaker 1:

That's one of the things that I do with my one-on-one clients now we do work connecting you to your higher self, so far beyond the small human that can take over and start limiting our life, our relationships, our opportunities. So, last but not least, I mean there's so many things that my first coach taught me, that all my coaches taught me that I can share and I will be continuing to share, but a big part of it was that, yes, I listen. There are some people that will tell you you need a coach, you need a coach, you have to get a coach If you, if you want to do anything in your life, you need a coach, and they'll use a reference like athletes of you know, every, every pro athlete has a coach. Now I believe right, because I'm all about empowerment that, yes, we can achieve great things on our own. However, I do think it will typically take way way longer than it needs to take, than it has to take. I also believe that we are on this planet to experience humanity. It's not a solo mission. This is a group involvement, and working with a coach is one of the fastest ways to excel yourself, to get over the stories, get over the limitations and point yourself in the right direction and just expedite your results. Not because you're not capable of doing that on your own, but because if you're meant to do something in this world significant, you're meant to do it within a team, within a team, and that coach is part of your team. Especially if you have a purpose of changing the world, of helping the world, of improving the world in any way, then you are extremely divinely guided and you can trust. If you're brought to a coach and you feel that feeling, that is for a reason you are meant to work with that coach. That is your path of least resistance. That is going to help you on your path, and I say this to release the fears around investing in a coach.

Speaker 1:

I know what it's like to make big investments in coaching and mentorship. The first, really, really big investment I did, which was a 20K approximately 20K Canadian. I paid in American dollars and it's funny because I didn't even, to be honest, use that mentorship as much as I could have because of my own resistance at that time. However, that was the first time I exploded. What my income was into the six figures, not even using it to its full capacity. So you really have to let go of the fears that are telling you I don't know if it's, you know if it's going to, if it's going to be helpful, it's a lot of money. I don't know all these hesitations, all these fears. I understand them. Believe me.

Speaker 1:

It's not that I, you know, made any of my investments just willy nilly, but I always tuned in and listened to my intuition. The only time that it didn't go well was when I did not listen to my intuition. This was, I think this, this, the second coach that I hired. No, it would have maybe the third or fourth coach I hired. I've been doing this about 11 years, so it's not that I'm saying you should work with a whole bunch of different coaches, but I worked with different ones at different stages in my growth, in my life, in my business, and the only time I didn't it didn't go well was when I didn't listen to my intuition and go with a coach that was more expensive or more of an investment, and I went with the one that wasn't. It was more comfortable for me and it was just not the fit. I won't go into details with with it that's a story for another time but it wasn't the fit and I made a pact with myself that day that I would not make decisions from a place of scarcity or lack and limitation and I would trust where I was guided, was meant to be and the money would come after. And it always has.

Speaker 1:

And I'm not saying that you just go out and rush and make a decision. I'm saying listen to your intuition, listen to your gut. If you are guided towards someone whether that's me or someone else and they keep popping up, and they keep popping up, that's for a reason. Don't make things harder than they need to be. Don't make things harder than they need to be and trust yourself that you will get the value from it. I know a lot of other people can hold themselves back because they're in their head about something. I'm going to wrap this up, but that truly is one of the biggest things I got from.

Speaker 1:

My first coach was not identifying with the stories, not identifying with the limitations with the stories, with all the goobly goop going around in my mind holding me back, keeping me stuck, and to start seeing them and really understanding that. Oh, you know a lot of these stories, a lot of these patterns. I picked them up along the way and maybe at one time they were helpful for me, but they are no longer helpful and to move forward, I need to start letting go. Letting go and bringing in what is going to serve me more. This is the way to transform, and transform rapidly. Not talking about your stuff over and over and over again, not getting up like it's Groundhog Day in the same energy, in the same frequency. Again, no judgment, I did that for a long time. But in letting go and really getting clear, what do I need for this next step? And or what even is the next step? Getting out of your head, getting the support you need.

Speaker 1:
